FAQs The Route

Catch the Train - 15th August 2020 - 10am

Covid-19 update. We are still planning to run the event on 15th August this year. However, to help with social distancing and the safety of everyone involved the following changes will be in place:

  1. To enable social distancing we will not be able to have a mass start. At best we'll be able to start people in small groups, or perhaps individually, so we will have to have staggered start times.
  2. It's going to be difficult for us to have a full set of marshalls. We can cover the key points, we'll mark the course as best we can, and we'll provide maps, but you should only really enter if you are confident in navigating the route.
  3. We might not be able to provide food and water stations, so you'll need to be self sufficient for the full 9 mile route.
  4. We probably won't be able to provide transport back (In which case we'll provide a refund for those who have pre-paid). So, you will probably have to organise your own transport back to the start location.

In the event that the Covid-19 situation deteriorates and we are unable to hold the race, you will be offered a deferral to next years race, or a refund (minus a transaction fee of £1)

Is there a cut off time?

Yes, there will be a cut off time. Ideally we'd like you to beat the train that arrives into Hathersage station at 12.32. However, the final cut-off is 1pm. To meet this there will be cut-off times at key checkpoints along the way. This gives you 3 hours to do 15km.

What if I can’t finish in the allotted time?

We will have a vehicle at each of the key checkpoints which will transport you to the finish area in Hathersage. You can then get the coach back to Dore & Totley if you've booked it, or of course the train.

What sort footwear should I wear?

The terrain is varied. You could probably make it round in road shoes if the weather is dry, but we would recommend trail shoes if you have them.

Is there somewhere I can leave my bag?

Yes, we will be having a bag drop area at the start, and all bags will be transported to the finish area in Hathersage once the race is underway. Although we keep an eye on the bags during the race, they are left at your own risk. Please follow signage at registration.

Are headphones allowed?

No. Under UK athletic rules, competitors are not permitted to wear headphones during the race.

Are there any toilets on the course?

Toilets are available at the start/finish area.

Will there be feed stations around the course?

No, we don't plan to have feed stations. We recommend that you carry some snacks of your own and some water. However, if the weather is hot we will provide some water refill stations

What if I want to drop out of the race.

You need to notify a marshall and hand in your timing chip and race number, they will then contact race control and organise transport to the finish area for you.

Can I transfer or defer my entry

We will accept transfers upto 10th August. Please contact us at chris@events360.co.uk if you would like to transfer your entry. We will need the name and date of birth of the person who you are transferring to. Unfortunately we cannot defer entries.
